1. Introduction & Scope

Welcome to DocToPDF, operated at hinetcloud.net. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our free Word-to-PDF document conversion service. By using DocToPDF, you agree to the data practices described in this policy.

This policy applies exclusively to the services provided at hinetcloud.net. It does not apply to third-party websites or services linked from our platform. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party services you use.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Files You Upload

When you upload a document (DOC, DOCX, or TXT format), it is transmitted securely over HTTPS to our server. The file is stored temporarily in an isolated directory on our AWS EC2 server solely to perform the conversion. The resulting PDF is made available to you for download.

• Retention period: All uploaded files and converted PDFs are automatically and permanently deleted from our server within 10 minutes of upload, regardless of whether you downloaded the result.
• No human access: No DocToPDF team member ever opens, reads, or reviews the contents of your documents. The entire conversion process is automated and handled by LibreOffice running in headless mode.
• No cloud backups: We do not back up uploaded files to third-party cloud storage services such as Amazon S3, Google Drive, or Dropbox.

2.2 Automatically Collected Data

Like most web services, our server software (Nginx) automatically records basic access log data when you visit our site. This may include:

• Your IP address (used solely for firewall/abuse protection and aggregated traffic analysis)
• Browser type and version (User-Agent string)
• Referring URL (the page that directed you to our site)
• Date, time, and HTTP status code of requests
• Bytes transferred

This access log data is stored on our server in standard Nginx log files and is used only for security monitoring and aggregate traffic analysis. Logs are rotated and purged periodically. We do not use this data to build individual user profiles.

2.3 Cookies & Local Storage

DocToPDF itself does not set first-party cookies for tracking purposes. However, third-party services integrated into our site (described below) may set cookies according to their own policies.

3. Third-Party Services

3.1 Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on our site. AdSense is provided by Google LLC. Google uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) and similar tracking technologies to serve ads that are relevant to your interests based on your website visits, demographic information, and other factors.

By using DocToPDF, you consent to the use of these advertising cookies. You can manage your ad personalization preferences through:

3.2 Google Analytics (Optional)

We may use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand how users interact with our site in aggregate (e.g., page views, session duration, referral sources). Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information anonymously. All data is aggregated and does not identify individual users.

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

3.3 Google Fonts

Our site uses Google Fonts to load the "Inter" typeface. When your browser downloads a Google Font, Google's servers receive your IP address and browser information as part of the normal HTTP request. 4. How We Use the Information

We use the limited information we collect exclusively for the following purposes:

• Service delivery: To receive your uploaded document, convert it to PDF using LibreOffice, and return the result to you.
• Security & abuse prevention: To detect and block malicious requests, denial-of-service attacks, and upload abuse (e.g., excessively large files, prohibited content types).
• Performance monitoring: To identify and resolve technical issues with our conversion engine, server health, and response times.
• Aggregate analytics: To understand overall site traffic trends (page views, popular browsers, geographic distribution) so we can improve the service.

We do not use your data for: building advertising profiles, selling insights to data brokers, profiling individual users, or any purpose beyond operating and improving DocToPDF.

5. Data Storage & Security

DocToPDF is hosted on an AWS EC2 instance located in the United States. We implement the following security measures to protect your data:

• HTTPS encryption: All data transferred between your browser and our server is encrypted using TLS 1.2/1.3 via a Let's Encrypt SSL certificate.
• UFW firewall: Our server is protected by a strict Uncomplicated Firewall (UFW) ruleset that blocks all unauthorized ports.
• File isolation: Uploaded files are stored in a dedicated, permission-restricted directory and are not accessible via direct URL.
• Automatic deletion: A server-side cleanup process permanently removes all files in the upload and output directories after a maximum of 10 minutes.
• Regular updates: We keep the server operating system, Nginx, Node.js, and LibreOffice updated with security patches.
• Limited access: Only authorized personnel with SSH key authentication can access the server. No password-based authentication is permitted.

While we take every reasonable precaution, no data transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee perfect security, but we are committed to protecting your information to the best of our ability.

6. Children's Privacy

DocToPDF is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately at admin@hinetcloud.net and we will take prompt action to delete it.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to deletion: You may request deletion of your personal data. Note that because we already delete all uploaded files within 10 minutes, this largely applies to server access logs.
• Right to opt out of advertising: You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time using the links provided in Section 3.1.
• GDPR (EU residents): If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation including the right to data portability and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
• CCPA (California residents): If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal data we collect, to opt out of its sale (we do not sell data), and to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

8. Changes to This Policy
